Elikem Kotoko, a member of the National Democratic Congress Communication Team has said he feels ashamed to see the youth of the governing New Patriotic Party defend their party when the writings are clearly on the wall that things are not going well. According to Elikem Kotoko, the rot in the system is too much and hence he finds it difficult to understand why young men and women in the governing New Patriotic Party will still defend their party.
Speaking on today's episode of the HotNews Show on Pan Africa TV ( December 6), Elikem Kotoko insisted that, the governing New Patriotic Party is not consistent with its commitment to Ghanaians. He insisted that the Finance Minister has still not found an alternative to the proposed E-levy even though Ghanaians including the Vice-president, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia have said it is not good for mobile money transactions to be taxed.
"Of all the submissions he ( Finance Minister) made, he still could not make any alternative to the E-levy which has been opposed by many including their people, I mean, no less a person than the Vice-president, who is the head of the Economic Management Team. ... I feel very ashamed as a youth to still see young men and women in the NPP want to defend this kind of rot", he said.
Elikem Kotoko also took a swipe at the government for the sit-down strike action embarked upon by the Coalition of Commercial Transport Owners in the country today. To him, what transpired today where commuters became stranded and had to walk to their destinations is an indication of how low the country has sunk in the hands of the governing New Patriotic Party who touted themselves as having the men to efficiently run the affairs of the country.
