Check Out The Latest Update From Ken Ofori Atta Today Regarding The E- Levy On Momo Transactions

Ken Ofori Atta has been one of the hot personalities in the country in the last one month. The Finance Minister ever since his presentation of the 2022 budget has received so much backlash from Ghanaians. He has been criticized essentially for a levy that seeks to impose taxes on Ghanaians whenever they transact transactions on mobile money. This levy has caused so much confrontation between the Minority and Majority sides of Parliament over the past weeks.

Today, Monday, December 6, 2021 Ken Ofori Atta addressed Ghanaians on the latest update on the concerns of Ghanaians. The Minority have raised about 6 concerns they want to be addressed. According to the Finance Minister about 10 million cedis will be allocated to complete the engineering studies for the coastal areas affected by the tidal waves. He noted that a more lasting solution is being worked on help the people to be better placed in the event of another Tidal wave.

With consideration with the E-levy, Ken Ofori Atta explained that considerations are still going on between the Minority and Minority so that an impasse will be solved. He remained silent on any percentage decreases as regards to the earlier 1.75%. He tasked the Minority and Majority to work together to reach a consensus. He espoused the consequences of not having a budget and said this will affect government workers.

According to Ken Ofori Atta, the E-Levy is very important and cannot be avoided. He bemoaned the fact that just about 2 million of Ghana’s adult population of 18 million are paying tax. He called for support from all to make sure that the tax net is widened and revenue generated to develop the country. he concluded by thanking Ghanaians for the support they have given him so far.
