The Member of Parliament for the Adansi Asokwa constituency, Honorable Kobina Tahir Hammond has urged Ghanaians to ignore and debunk all claims that the ruling NPP government is taking advantage of the embattled Assin North Member of Parliament, Honorable James Quayson's case, to reduce the number of seats the minority caucus has in Parliament. He admitted that although the majority caucus is struggling with numbers and also the Speaker of Parliament is not as regular as he is expected to be, the government will never do that.
He was of the view that nobody in the right sense of mind will ever think of suspecting the government of trying to use the other machinery of government to favor itself at this trying time.
"We all accept that because of our numbers, we have difficulties. But who in the right frame of mind will suggest for that reason that a government of the day will arrest Members of Parliament. We practice democracy. If James Quayson is facing that problem, he is hoisted by his problem.", he explained.
