Kwadwo Twum Boafo is a Former Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board. He has been very instrumental in criticizing the ruling NPP. Today, he joined Randy Abbey, host of Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV. He clashed with Kweku Baako on the issue of the payment of salaries to the spouses of the President and Vice President. Kwadwo Twum Boafo discloses that the happenings currently are very frightening. He revealed that had they institutionalized the payment to the spouses of dead Presidents who were suffering, he will not complain.
"Kweku, what is going on is very creepy. Randy, I have no problem with the discretionary element that is being used at present. We have clothed the executive with enormous power, because we assume they are sensible. We also have to understand that circumstances change over time. If we had given a helping hand to the spouse of a departed leader who is in distress, I would be the last person to complain.", Kwadwo Twum lamented
He went ahead to say that this government used the same way to approve the payment of ex-gratia to the members of Judiciary. He predicted that in the near future, we will get a President who will demand that they pay his ministers and party executives
This is what he said; "Institutionalizing this things creeps. It is the same way that we are being told that members of the judiciary are now collecting ex-gratia. One fine day, we will get a President who decides to stake a bill to Parliament because he has the numbers in Parliament to say that, all ministers wife should be paid. Whiles we are at it, let us simply add the wives of party executives. Mark it down; they will soon add the wives of ministers and party executives."
