A constituency chairman aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sissala West of the Upper West Region, Limann Majid, who the party’s constituency secretary has accused of masterminding the barbaric attack on the party’s Nasara coordinator, is profusely denying orchestrating the insane attack.
The Nasara coordinator, Iddrisu Walaika, was violently attacked at Gwollu, the Sissala West District capital on Easter Monday, April 18, 2022 and he sustained deep cuts.
The incident happened near the Gwollu Hospital and he has since been hospitalized. His condition is reported to be stable.
The party’s constituency secretary, Abdul Rauf Zini, is blaming the cruel attack on Limann Majid and his band of supporters.
A spokesman for Limann Majid, however, has roundly rejected the accusation, saying the aspiring constituency chairman has no hand in what happened to the Nasara coordinator.
Karim Hudu Mua says the aspirant and his team are struggling to understand why anybody should accuse them of a crime they have not committed.
He adds that Limann Majid is a good person and will not even hurt a fly.
The finger pointing by the constituency secretary, his claim that the aspiring candidate instigated the attack is unfounded.
He adds that they are deeply saddened by the violent attack on Iddrisu Walaika.
Karim Hudu Mua said they had all seen video footage of the attack which had gone viral on social media and that they could say without any fear of contradiction that none of the men captured on the video footage “is a member of our team”- not one of them.
“I have watched the video footage and I cannot identify even one person in the video, I know to belong to our team. I know all the members of our team.”
Accusations and counter-accusations have enveloped NPP internal elections in many parts of the country.
