Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo; The Best Fit For Minister For Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo-Danquah Akuffo-Addo presented his ministerial nominees to parliament for their approval on January 22, 2021.

Among the list of the Ministerial Nominees was Hon. Dr Kwaku Afriyie who was designated to head the Ministry For Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations, this Ministry.

The Ministry was created in 1993 as the Ministry of Environment and Science and abolished in 2006 (the Environment portfolio was added to the Local Government Ministry; and Science, added to the Education Ministry). It was reconstituted in January 2009, and named Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST). However in 2013, the Ministry was renamed Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI).

The Ministry's existence is conceived to be maintaining development through the use of science, technology and innovation for economic growth and healthy external conditions through advanced and a well-structured economy.

I wouldn't want to compare Kantanka with the Nominee already on the list. But everyone will agree with me that when it comes to issues relating to the anything about the Environment, science, Technology and Innovations, Kantanka as affectionately called doesn't have a co-equal in the whole of Africa.

His unique inventions in almost every field of endeavor is an issue of public discussion hence I wouldn't want to be repeating information to my readers. However, just some few reflections over his work would work some magic. Per the track records of the man, his abilities transcends Environment, science technology and Innovations. He is well vest in Education and Training, Religion, Culture, Agriculture just to mention but a few.

One would have expected that Apostle would have been nominated ever since the Ministry was created in 1993, but governments after governments have refused to recognized the leadership qualities of the Ghanaian Gem.

This goes to tell that Mostly the President's don't Normally put into consideration the background and the expertise of the Nominees into consideration when appointing them. One typical example was the appointment of Hon Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, a medical doctor with no Education background to head the Ministry of Education.

As to what exactly is taken into consideration during such nominations remains a mystery. But until Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo Kantaka is chosen to head the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations, I wouldn't see how really serious Ghana is towards achieving the mandate of the Ministry.

If not for fear of being referred as "overhyping" the man, I would have said he is even more than qualified for the position since his track records in the field is beyond the needed qualification.
