Peter Mac Manu, the head of the NPP's national election committee, emphasized that no instances of bribery were reported during the party's recently concluded national delegates conference.
He said that the earlier warnings from his group had paid off because he had not seen any delegates being bought off with money at the Accra Sports Stadium. However, he said that the party should be commended for having a Conference at the location without any bribes.
Your representatives who attended the Congress did not witness anyone trading money for votes on the congress premises, nor did they witness anyone parting with money. You should commend us for at least bringing that to the attention of Ghanaians in general. From where I am sitting on the grounds of the congress, I have never seen anything like that, as far as the Chairman of the National Elections Committee is concerned".
While providing updates on the party's National Delegates Conference, which saw thousands of party supporters assemble to elect new executives for the party, Mr. Mac Manu made these statements.
Regarding the Saturday sessions' delayed start, he clarified that it was caused by an injunction that was sought to prevent TESCON delegates from voting. He further mentioned that some delegates had to travel all the way from the Eastern Region to the venue because it was difficult for them to obtain lodging in Accra.
Mr. Mac Manu took advantage of the chance to refute claims that the delay was caused by candidates visiting delegates at their hotels and giving them money before they arrived at the event.
Overall, he expressed his satisfaction for a successful exercise and conveyed his joy at the turn of events.
In the meantime, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president of Ghana, has urged NPP supporters to support the party's newly elected officials. This will benefit the party in the 2024 general election, he claims.
