The Cost Of One V8 Is $ 200K, Driving 50 Of Them In A Convoy Is Unacceptable: Rev. Oduro Fumes

Most Ghanaians have for some days now express their sentiments on the number of vehicles being paraded by the president in his Thank you tour. Videos and pictures of the convoy have since gone viral and people believe it is a total drain on the purse of the public.

The latest to add his voice to the long convoy of the President is the leader and founder of the Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro. He has confessed to his congregation at the Amponsah Memorial Temple that his likeness for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo but believes the expensive cost of a V8 Lexus vehicle does not warrant the President to have about fifty of them in his convoy for a tour.

According to him, one V8 Vehicle cost two hundred thousand United States dollars, and driving fifty of them just to commission a project is enough money to get most young graduates in the country employed. The government keeps complaining that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has brought hardships on the public purse.

Some developmental projects have been halted due to the unavailability of finances to get the contractors back to the site. Public sector workers have been crying on the government to increase their salaries whilst the prices of goods and services keep increasing in the market. Prophet Kofi Oduro believes that it is about time the Akufo Addo-led government begin considering the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian instead of the extravagant lifestyles they inculcate after winning political power.

Driving fifty V8 vehicles in one convoy, considering the fuel consumption, according to Prophet Kofi Oduro is unacceptable in a country like Ghana and Akufo Addo must reduce them. According to him, the youth of the country are angry and leadership must be guided on whatever they do.

But others have brought up arguments from another angle by indicating that the convoy of the president from the flagstaff house is not up to the number people see in the videos. It is known that whilst the president is moving from one region to another, other government officials and private individuals also join the convoy. Sometimes chiefs, MMDCEs, Party executives, contractors, news reporters, and many others join the convoy and some of these people fuel their vehicles. They all add up to the numbers to make the convoy seem many but it might not be entirely true that the President drive in such a long convoy from the flagstaff house.
