NPP Will Destroy This Country - Hawkers And Workers At Toll Booths Cries And Pleads On Government

After the scrapping of the toll levy and the closure of toll booths in the country, hawkers who trade at various toll booths have expressed their discontent and amusement at how the Government just shut down their businesses without giving them prior notices. Due to the traffic that is caused by the paying of tolls, passengers can buy from these hawkers. Since there are no traffics anymore, the cars do not stop for the passengers to buy again.

Hawkers at the Cape Coast - Accra Highway speaking with reporters said that since morning, nobody has even asked to buy anything from them. They pleaded with the government to do something about the situation. One of the hawkers who claims to be a leader of the NPP group in the area said she is now ashamed of what the government is doing in the country.

She mentioned that she campaigned strongly for the party and as a stunt member, she believed the party was going to provide jobs for them, but they have now been deceived by the leaders. Another man who is disabled and worked as a collector at the toll booth said that the NPP is going to destroy the country.

He continued that first of all the government had closed down the GN Bank which was supporting them with loans, and now their jobs have been taken from them. He added that Mahama thinks about the well being of citizens and would have never done that if he were in power.

Many of the hawkers wished that this decision had been implemented after the celebration of Christmas and New Year's eve since they gain lots of income during these periods. They pleaded with the government to reopen the toll booths and give them a stipulated period to organize themselves well to venture into other businesses.
