Few days to election 2020, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah issued a statement, specifically voters in the Buem Constituency are eligible to vote only in the Presidential Election but not in the Parliamentary Election. And the rationale behind this was the creation of the Guan District Local Government pending.
However, the 2021 population & housing census has commenced and the civilians of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi and Likpe are also part of this program. Many people within these jurisdiction has already indicated that they have been counted.
In a post, TV3's Johnnie Hughes made this assertion in his Twitter account reacting to ongoing population and housing census within the area. And wrote; "We are counting the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi and Likpe for the 2021 population & housing census. Under which district and constituency are we counting them? Could we have done same during the elections?" He queried.
