Arise Ghana, a pressure group today, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 staged a press conference to address the deploring living conditions under the Akufo-Addo led government. The press conference saw a number of political parties like the GCPP, CPP, PNC, NDC, Drivers Union, COPEC, University students, CSOs etc. members from these associations addressed the press on a number of issues bothering the country.
Some of the key issues that Arise Ghana is asking for is an extensive probe into the sale of portions of the Achimota Forest. They also called on Parliament to flush out the Agyapa Deal, reduction of fuel process and the repeal of the infamous E-electronic tax. Interesting, ASEPA headed by Mensah Thompson also had the chance to express their views. According to Mensah Thompson, it is strange that the press and Ghanaians have sat down and allowed President Akufo-Addo and his associates to amass state properties.
He called on Ghanaians to join the massive demonstration on June 21st and put pressure on the government to reduce the hardships on the ordinary Ghanaians. In a rather funny but serious posture, he also called on women to come and demonstrate naked against the government to show how serious they are on demanding for changes in governance.
It will be interesting to see if this plea will be headed to. In my expectations, it might not be possible but time will tell if Mensah Thompson will also call on his family and other ladies around him to come join the demonstration.
