We, and we are indeed very much concerned about the integrity, reputation, goodwill and dignity we hold as a nation.
As far as most of us are particularly aware, our children are silently and carefully observing whatever is going on in the country's political, democratic and governance arenas. Very soon, when our leaders are dead and gone, they will write a very detailed history about them.
Less concerned are most of those who occupy higher positions in this country because they assume that when they are gone, it is their children and grandchildren who will fill their vacant offices.
What some of them mostly forget is that things might change sooner or later; and if changes in the country's social structure do not go their way, their throne of enjoyment will be permanently terminated.
Right now, as we are pondering over this very critical issue, some of the younger ones are busily critiquing us, evaluating whatever we are doing; and by the time they are fully grown and developed, their historical analysis and judgment on the works of most politicans will be so bitter and ugly.
Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency and Chairman of the Interior and Defense Committee of Parliament is gradually diminishing the hard-earned image the parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana has protected and sustained all these years.
Within the hearts and minds of many, he is deserving of the strictest punitive actions from the judicial arm of Government, backed by the legislature. However, the main person to vote strongly for the motion is the most critical issue here.
It is mind-boggling how a Government official whose threatening utterance led to the gruesome assassination of a renowned Journalist (Ahmed Hussein-Suale), would further be appointed to Chair an Interior Committee of Parliament.
Although formally, he has been referred to the Privileges Committee for the necessary interrogative and investigative processes concerning the threatening comment he issued against Multimedia's Erastus Asare Donkor, most Ghanaians are not so much convinced about this very action.
Already, many are very doubtful of the legal system, particularly the security services that are currently in operation.
Are Ghanaians beginning to understand why there are so many brutalization and killing incidents in the country nowadays?
Beyond Political lens, there is some form of significant linkage between the high level insecurity in Ghana and the overall personality of Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
Emphatically and frankly speaking, Mr. Agyapong does not deserve that high ranking position he was given.
How can someone who is a promoter of brutalization and assassination protect the lives of Ghanaians? If Kennedy Agyapong is very sincere with himself, he would frankly tell Ghanaians indeed, he has failed himself and the entire Interior Ministry of this country.
Meanwhile, there is this man of valour and integrity whose chairmanship service to the Interior and Defense Ministries would have been very significant and exceptional.
When the Wa brutalization incident occurred, this Honourable man stood up as a servant leader and strongly condemned such barbaric act.
Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu is the Member of Parliament for the Wa West Constituency, Upper West Region of Ghana. He is also a retired Superintendent of Police and former Executive Secretary to the Former Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu.
The Honourable Member of Parliament is a holder of Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Due to his exceptional expertise in security issues, he was appointed to champion several security campaigns ahead of the 2020 General Elections of Ghana.
Again, this patriotic citizen petitioned Right Honourable Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Ghana's 8th Parliament to direct His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's attention to the rampant insecurity incidents in the country, particularly the armed robbery cases in his Constituency.
Currently, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu is a member of Members Holding Offices of Profit Committee and Interior, and Defense Committees of Parliament.
Enough is enough; he must bow down his head in shame, and humbly learn from this reputable and prudent man.
