Following the public outburst when recommendations by the Prof. Yaa Ntiamoah Committee to pay First or Second Ladies the same salaries as Cabinet Ministers. Both First and Second Ladies has refunded all allowances paid since 2017, because of intolerance of provocative languages on some part of Ghanaians.
The Minority in Parliament has slammed the Presidential Spouses of arrogance and ingratitude, urged the Auditor-General to go into the accounts of First and Second Ladies and audit them. In addition, they should pay interest accrued to the allowances dated 2017.
The action of the Presidential Wives indicates that they are not interested in any state fund, so now that they are in mood of refund, they shouldn't forget to refund expenditures including, the cars, the food she eats, fuel cost and the house she lives etc.
According to Peace FM's news reporter, Kwame Ahenkan, Hon. James Klutse Avedzi, deputy minority leader disclosed this during their press conference held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. He called on First and Second Ladies to refund all the interest components and they should be audited.
