Okudzeto Ablakwa & Armah-Kofi Buah Storm CHRAJ To File A Complaint About The 2020 Elections

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and his colleague MP for Ellembelle Constituency, Hon Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has today, Wednesday, 25th August 2021 stormed the premises of CHRAJ. The two elegant MPs were at the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to filed a complaint about the 2020 elections.

As many Ghanaians can remember, the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections saw 8 innocent Ghanaians being shot to death by the security services in the country. As we speak now, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) have not done anything to bring the perpetrators to book and sufficiently compensate the victims. It was for this reason that Ablakwa and Buah were captured at CHRAJ to tell them the constitution has given them the mandate to investigate some of these issues and bring the perpetrators to book.

And if they do not take adequate steps and investigate this issue, there is a high probability that it can occur again in the next election in 2024. According to them, their conscience cannot allow them to sleep over this issue. In view of this, CHRAJ must investigate the killings and other gross human rights violations that occurred during the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

This is what Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablwaka wrote on his official Facebook page:

"It would be a scar on our collective conscience, a threat to future elections and a disservice to the stability of our democracy if we do not take concrete steps to thoroughly investigate, punish the perpetrators and adequately compensate victims. May CHRAJ live up to its constitutional mandate and may JUSTICE TRIUMPH. God help us".
