Colonel Kwadwo Damoah (ret), who was ordered by President Akufo-Addo to resign after his contract expired, has stated that he is cooperating with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in the ongoing investigations.
Madam Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, the head of the Ghana Revenue Authority's (GRA) Customs Division, is on the OSP's docket for allegedly lowering the benchmark values for goods imported by a Council of State member.
The decrease in benchmark values for Madam Asomah's company, Hinneh's Labianca Group of Companies Limited, translated into lower tax obligations to the state, which is in violation of industry regulations.
Aside from that, he is also charged with auctioning off GRA vehicles and other property.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic prior to the President's directive for the Commissioner to hand over his office to his deputy, Col. Damoah stated that he has always used the Special Prosecutor's Office for investigations.
"I have been fully cooperating with the OSP." On February 16, this year, I responded to an OSP invitation regarding the Labianca case.
"At the moment, the office has requested that we produce all documents related to the grant of discounts by September 30."
"In addition, the OSP has directed that we produce auction documents by September 30." "We're gathering all of the documents in order to meet the deadline," he explained.
Col. Damoah also stated that all of his office's activities were carried out in accordance with the rules, and thus he has no concerns about the investigations.
"The Special Prosecutor has the authority to investigate, but I am confident that in the end, the truth will prevail and my integrity will be preserved." I haven't broken any laws, so I have nothing to be concerned about."
Meanwhile, social media, particularly Twitter, has seen reactions to the development.
