Former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Adjei Agyepong, has boldly stated that the large ministerial appointments in the current NPP administration is making the cost of governing the administration very expensive.
Mr Kwabena Agyapong stated that the huge ministerial appointments coupled with the use of three Ministers is putting a huge financial burden on the administration. He believes the country can be run with just 20 ministries.
Mr Kwabena Agyapong has questioned the logic for the use of three ministerial deputies when the presidency runs with one Vice. He said some of the ministries can be consolidated.
He boldly noted "I think a country like Ghana can even survive with twenty(20) ministries, a lot of the ministries that have been chopped up should be consolidated,"
Again, he said "I think every Minister should have one deputy. The President has one deputy who is his Vice. Why should the Minister have three? . . . it is making the cost of running the government too expensive,"
