Jinapor replaces Ofori-Atta as interim trade minister.

With effect from Monday, January 16, 2023, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor will take over the Ministry of Trade and Industry until a replacement for outgoing Minister Alan Kyerematen is named. This is according to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This was disclosed in a statement released on January 13 by Mr. Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications for the Presidency.

Prior to that, the President requested that Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance, serve as acting Minister in charge of that specific Ministry until a permanent replacement was found.

It's unknown why he terminated him from his role as interim Minister.

"On Friday, January 6, 2023, Mr. Alan Kyerematen's resignation as Minister of Trade and Industry was accepted by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic.

“This was after Mr Kyerematen, on Thursday, 5th January, informed the President personally of his resolve to resign, and afterwards presented his letter of resignation to him.

"President Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude to Mr. Kyerematen for his contributions to the government and the nation and best wishes for his future endeavours.

In a previous statement, Mr. Eugene Arhin stated that "the President has asked the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, to operate as caretaker Minister in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, until a permanent appointment is made."
