Joshua Kwame Fugah, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for deputy secretary in the Ashanti Region, claims that the beleaguered Evangelist Nana Agradaa and other religious con artists picked up their shady practices from the current administration's New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the NPP made false promises to Ghanaians during the 2016 election in an effort to dupe them into supporting President Akufo-Addo. On Kumasi-based Ultimate FM on Monday, October 10, 2022, Mr. Fugah made these remarks in connection to the most recent money-doubling scam involving Nana Agradaa.
Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, is the founder of the Heaven Way Church in Accra. She has recently made headlines for allegedly defrauding churchgoers after asking them to bring their money so she could double it for them.
In Ghana, both social media and mainstream media are discussing this problem right now. In response, Mr. Fugah claims that the religious leaders' decision to partake in the same activity is motivated by the NPP's massive political fraud against the Ghanaian people.
Julius, I'm telling you that this government's promises of "one village, one dam," "one million per constituency," and other initiatives were false, which is why Agradaa and her kind are having a field day.
He rhetorically posed a question, "If the NPP can scam Ghanaians and operate freely, why can't the religious people do the same?"
"I am not shocked this is happening, you see, the religious scammers have learned the system from the NPP," he remarked. He continues by saying that individuals are coming up with all kinds of strategies to deal with the challenges the Akufo-Addo led government is posing.
“The system is now hard, people are struggling, the frustration is just too much under this government and everybody wants a way out legally or foul. This government has made this basaaaa like that, so everybody is suffering”, he said.
