Former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has once again stepped on the toes of Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, asking him to investigate the killing of Ghanaian investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
He stated this on his Facebook page while discussing the murder of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
According to the former president, the killers of the hardworking journalist are still roaming free, while Ahmed Suale's family and the state are still unable to fill the void left by his death.
"Having said that, we also note that the murderers of Ghanaian journalist, Ahmed Suale, are still walking free. We call on the Akufo-Addo administration and the Police Service to take this investigation seriously and bring the murderers to justice", he stated.
Furthermore, former President Mahama expresses his rage over the assassination of ace journalist Shireen. Among the Shireen's accomplishments, Mahama recalls how Shireen has attempted to bring reports from events in Israel and the Middle East.
"The killing of ace Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is a most condemnable act. For a journalist who has for many years covered and brought us reports of events in Israel and the Middle East region, we all mourn her loss. It is our prayer that whoever pulled the trigger and any associates will be brought to justice through an independent and transparent process." Mahama wrote.
Shireen Abu Akleh was born on January 3, 1971, and she was a Palestinian-American journalist who worked as a reporter for Al Jazeera's Arabic-language channel for over 25 years. She was also well-known throughout the Middle East for her years of reporting in Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. She was shot and killed while covering an Israel Defense Forces raid on the West Bank city of Jenin on May 11, 2022.
I think a deep investigation need to be done for for these murderers to be brought to justice. Nothing should be hidden but rather be transparent to everyone. You can also bring your opinions as we in the comments.
