Family members are trooping to the graveyard with a new casket, to collect the remaining parts of their effectively covered dead family members for reburial, as the graveyard is being demanded to start a football pitch project.
The incident was reported to had commenced when people were spotted on the evening of Thursday, September 17, hurrying to the Diabene graveyard with caskets to collect the remaining of their deceased family members.
According to reports gathered, it hot to the understanding that the town is recovering some aspect of the burial ground to get enough space for development of football field for the young men in the community, since most of the constituencies in the country as been blessed with a new “astro turf” field by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo.
The young men are in support of this new project as they agree to the demolition of some part of the graveyard for a football field. They wouldn’t miss such chance to gain their own football pitch like the other constituencies.
We also understand that this exercise was chiefly orchestrated by the Chief and Queen-mother of Diabene with support of the STMA's Environmental Health Department.
However, the portion of the graveyard which was affected has called for family members to attend to their deceased families. The dead bodies which were decayed wasn’t a problem, but the recent ones had to be collected and reburied at a different location.
