Vice President Mahamud Bawumia Commiserates With National Chief Imam Over His Son's Death

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, earlier today was at the Residence of the National chief Imam to commiserate with him following the demise of his son, Alhaji Baba Abubakari Sharubutu. The late Sharubutu who was known affectionately to many as Baban Broda passed away yesterday following a protracted illness and has since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition. The Vice President following the visit expressed condolences on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana to the National Chief Imam.

As Part of the visit, a prayer was said for the peaceful rest in eternity for the lost soul and Dr. Bawumia took time to express his sympathies and prayed that Allah compensates the 102-year-old imam for his loss. Until his death, Alhaji Abubakari Sharubutu was not only a son but a diligent servant who acted as driver of the respected cleric. His third day funeral rites are scheduled for tomorrow [July 15] at the Old Fadama residence of the imam.
