The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin has boldly revealed that Parliament is currently broke and its finances are low under the leadership of Ken Ofori-Atta and Akufo-Addo. He boldly sent a strong message to the finance ministry.

Speaker Bagbin while speaking at the third meeting of the 2nd session of the 8th Parliament revealed that Parliament is very broke currently and they run on arrears from last year. He, therefore, boldly sent a strong message to the finance ministry to ensure that Parliament has enough finances to run its affairs.

" We don’t have any releases from the ministry of finance for us to run parliament. The House is broke. What many of you don’t know is that we’ve been running parliament on some arrears of last year and so it’s not easy. Almost all our machines are down except one and the previous Parliament has made efforts to try and get replacements. We are not getting the necessary financial support to buy new ones even though the board has approved, we are seriously forcing funding and it is not there."

“I think the ministry of finance should not treat parliament like a ministry or MDA. This is an arm of government, we are not part of the MMDAs and so they should make available enough money for us." Speaker Alban Bagbin boldly revealed this.

The MMDAs are also suffering since they've not been paid their common fund in some months now and so they lack the finances to run their affairs.
