The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has shown he agrees with former President John Mahama on the Akufo-Addo government accounting for the Covid expenditure they made. Bagbin boldly called on the finance minister to account for all the expenditure the government made on Covid 19 pandemic before they can come for any other money.
John Mahama has always said that the Akufo-Addo government has not accounted for the Covid-19 expenditure they made and so they should account for it properly or allow for an independent audit.
While speaking in the House and reacting to the government's request for a 75 million euro loan for COVID-19 Response, Alban Bagbin revealed that until Ken Ofori-Atta accounts for the Covid-19 expenditure, he will not allow the House to approve any loan for the government.
“The Ministry of Finance must give an account of all the monies that it has gotten for the management of COVID-19. Only after that will this house consider approving or otherwise another loan. I direct that the Minister of Finance appears before this House to account for all the monies that were approved for the utilization of the covid pandemic.” Bagbin boldly revealed this on the floor of Parliament.
Do you think that the Speaker is using his office to support John Mahama and the NDC to disturb the government??
Do you think that the Akufo-Addo government needs to account for the Covid-19 expenditure or do you think they've already done that??
Do you also think that the government used Covid-19 funds anyhow and that's the reason why they are running away from accounting for it?
If Ken Ofori-Atta and the -Addo has nothing to hide, why don't they account for the Covid-19 expenditure??
