Following the murder of Mfantseman MP and attacks of other MPs in the last few weeks, the new debate is whether MPs should be given security, and if so, why type. The debate has been locked between police security and military security.
Today on Kesben FM, some Ghanaians insisted that for effective security, MPs should be given military security rather than the police. One caller argued that policemen are not fearsome enough compared to military men.
However, there was no consensus as to how many security men should accompany MPs in their daily discharge of duties. Some people were also of the view that using government funds to provide security I'd not a prudent use of government funds. It appears that this issue attracts deep division regards to public opinion. The debate goes on...
