With that been said, let’s get right into this article.

The Government of Ghana has sparked massive stir, debates and arguments across all social media platforms after recent reports of increment in respective taxes which would take effect come May 1, 2021 finally popped up online.

The new taxes implemented by government during the 2021 budget would witnessed unexpected increment in fuel prices by almost 50 pesewas per liter from May 1, 2021.

This follows the implementation of the 30 pesewas taxes on petroleum products as announced in the 2021 budget and new levies introduced by the National Petroleum Authority.

However, the unexpected increment in taxes have also affected telecommunication networks as Ghanaians who are MTN users are likely to pay more taxes for talk time and data charges.

With respect to this, prices of data and call services of MTN are expected to go up by May 1, 2021. This is as a result of the Telecommunication operator to start implementing the 1% increase in the National Health Insurance Levy as stated in the 2021 budget.

Below is a look at the recent press release by MTN which highlighted how the increment on call and data charges will take effect on May 1, 2021.

Which government do you think have implemented high taxes on Ghanaians over the past couple of years in office, Was it the NPP’s President Akuffo Addo or NDC’s John Mahama?
