You might not know that he will perform better than Martin Amidu–Hon Martin Kpemka

Ever since the news broke out that Lawyer Kissi Agyebeng has been penciled for the position of the special prosecutor, several comparisons have been made between him and the former special prosecutor, Mr. Martin Amidu. Whilst some have gone into looking into the age disparity between Mr Kissi Agyebeng and Mr Martin Amidu, others are busily analysing the track records of this particular Lawyer that qualify him for that special office.

The Constitution states that before anybody is qualified for this office, the person must be a citizen of Ghana with a high moral standing and integrity devoid of any criminal record of treason and being convicted of any other crime in the past. That aside, the candidate must also be a lawyer and have at least 12 years experience in the bar.

However, according to some well-meaning Ghanaians, Kissi Agyebeng, who is 43 years can not fight corruption under Government officials who can be his father.

Unlike Martin Amidu who has been a deputy attorney general and the attorney general and has been a constant critic of governments irrespective of which Political party, Kissi Agyebeng has fallen short of such a pedigree and so not fit for the job as special prosecutor as proclaimed by most Ghanaians.

However, speaking on Joy News' newsfile today, Hon Kpemka made it known that as a lawyer himself, he has several Junior lawyers defeat their senior lawyers in court cases and so Lawyer Kissi Agyebeng with his lesser age and experience might perform better than Martin Amidu as a special prosecutor. He said he doesn't believe in age as factor because even the NDC complained about age during Mr Martin Amidu's appointment.

Though he appears to be speculative on Kissi Agyebeng's appointment, we are looking forward to see how it goes.
