Yesterday news broke out that the Minority side of the Appointments Committee had given a verdict of the minister designates of President Akufo-Addo. According to the report, 22 nominees were passed, 3 nominees were flatly rejected while the rest were on pending. Two of the nominees rejected include Hawa Koomson, the nominee for Fisheries and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, nominee for Information.
Today, Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the opposition NDC was interviewed by Osei Bonsu, host of ‘Ekosii Sen’ on some trending developments. Sammy talked about the rejected nominees and insisted that they deserved to be rejected or left for a second review.
OB then indicated that it was an unfair comment to make especially since people like Godfred Dame did so well at the vetting. He added that the NDC might not succeed since the issue will be referred to a vote in Parliament of which the NPP has an advantage.
“OB, Leave me alone. We all know it was not unfair to say they will be rejected. The 3 who were rejected had every right to be rejected. Even if they have an advantage we also have men in the plenary committee. OB you think every NPP is happy with Agyapa or PDS? We have men there. Just wait and see what will happen when it comes to a vote” Sammy Gyamfi explained.
Do you think that when it comes to a vote the NDC stand a chance to have their verdict retained? Can the NDC marshal the men in Parliament to get some nominees rejected? Share your thoughts.
