Its simply a captivating experience for some party supporters when they heard of the news that the audit team working on the thousands of pink sheets gathered from the various polling stations for the 2020 general election, have been completed. This has been an exercise many yearned is completed in time so they could proceed with their next cause of action.
This evening, a video that captured some party executives including the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo popped out. They were celebrating their work, as alleged by the Deputy Communications Officer of the NDC in the Western Region, Ebenezer Essien; of they completing the audit of the results sheets popularly known as pink sheets issued by the Electoral Commission of Ghana in the just-ended presidential and parliamentary election.
He shared on his Facebook page, the excitement that erupted in their strong room as they draw the curtains on that milestone. They are indeed ready as hinted, to hit the court with their water-tight evidence to prove their case of alleged electoral fraud perpetuated by the Electoral Commission.
You could see from the video the cheers and energy as they sing to Osibisa's 'We are going home' song. It signals victory to them, and inspires hope as they match on for another battle. The NDC had argued they won the 2020 Presidential election, and deserved tp have their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama declared the winner instead of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Their contention had been ridiculed for the past two weeks, as their main political opponent, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had dared them to go to court if they believe they won the election. But the lessons of the 2012 Election Petition by the NPP seemed to have enlightened them to get their facts right before the jump.
It has been for this reason that the party has exhausted quiet some time to complete this major task. The NDC have by law, given the date of the declaration of the results, have just five (5) days to file a petition with the Supreme Court to challenge the results. In the final days as we celebrate Christmas, it is anticipated the NDC will get busy at this.
