Let's Come Together As One People, Unite For Development - Paramount Chief

The Paramount Chief of Zuarungu Traditional Area, Naba Biliiya Maltenga Afeghera has challenged citizens of the area to take stock of activities and to specifically strategize to address any shortfalls in order to push their developmental agenda and the Region as a whole. He has also called on the youth to venture into meaningful activities that would earn them a living rather than engaging in violent and social vices that could render their lives meaningless. The Paramount Chief questioned why the government created a hanging District for them but failed to properly demarcate the boundaries between the Bolgatanga East and the Talensi District. This anomaly since the creation of the Districts in 2004, he lamented keeps creating anxiety and is a potential conflict for the two Districts. He appealed to the government to intervene.

Naba Biliiya Afeghera made the call at the durbar of chiefs and people of the Zuarungu Traditional Area in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region to climax their N'daakoya 's festival. The theme for this year's festival, "Zuarungu Home Coming; Embracing the Paramountcy for Development" is a wake up call for all citizens to come together as one people and unite for the development of the Traditional Area.

The Paramount Chief of Zuarungu Traditional Area, Naba Biliiya Maltenga Afeghera said N'daakoya is a vital platform that offers the opportunity for citizens of Zuarungu Traditional Area far and near to come together for development.

The Upper East Regional minister, Mr Stephen Yakubu on his part reiterated that the ministries of Agriculture and Trade and Industry are in talks with a private investor for the revamping of the Zuarungu Meat Factory under the government flagship programme of One District, One Factory. According to him, it would create more job opportunities for the teeming youth in the area and beyond and therefore the need for all to reposition themselves for this intervention.

Mr. Yakubu added that social intervention such as planting for food and Jobs is a booster for farmers to be able to farm on a large scale and encourage the youth to equally embrace it. He said that Sustainable Development can not be achieved in the wake of increasing teenage pregnancies, theft, robberies, alcoholism and politicization of issues.
