I Was The Face Of The NPP Campaign In 2016; I Am Not A Hungry Man-Okatakyie Afrifa Reminds Ghanaians

Media Personality and award-winning political show host, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has reminded Ghanaians that he was the face of the NPP campaign team in 2016 and that, he is not participating in the "Fix The Country Movement" activities because of hunger or in need of anything.

Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah made this statement when addressing a crowd at a conference organized at the Kwame Nkrumah circle by conveners of Fixthecountry Movement and Economic Freedom Fighters.

The purpose of the conference was to interact with fellow Ghanaians and to also give an update on the next line of action. It was also meant to highlight some topical issues making waves in the country.

Notable in the gathering were Ernesto Yeboah, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, Avraham Ben Moshe among others.

Speaking to the incensed crowd gathered at the conference, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah implored on each and every individual gathered to rise and speak against the bad leadership that Ghana has had since independence. He indicated that this call and criticism is not only directed to the current ruling party only but all governments that have come since the 4th Republic. He further served notice that nothing was going to stop him from the course to entreat leadership to fix the country.

"All of us gathered here have works that we do for a living and we are comfortable. I employ about 15 people and pay them salaries every month. We have dedicated ourselves to the course of making Ghana a better place not because we have nothing doing. I can travel to the US anytime because I have a visa of 5 years and have utilized it once. My wife is abroad and what could be bothering me to be going about making noise? We brought Nana Addo to power and you are all aware. In 2016, I was the face of the NPP campaign in this country. I was the voice behind the NPP campaign in this country. After everything, the Chief of Staff gives me at least 5000 cedis for me and so what else could I be looking for. Sammy Awuku is my friend and I enter the Chief of Staff's office anytime I please. I also go to Asenso Boakye's office anyhow and so what could be my need that all these individuals cannot meet? I have no personal interest in all of this. All we are saying is that for about three decades now, we have only experienced sub-standard governance and we are calling on the President to change the narrative. We are tired of the bad governance and poor infrastructures", he reiterated.

He warned that no individual or authority can stop the course of the Fix the country movement. He said, Ghana had gotten political freedom and it was about time the people got economic freedom.

He ended by quoting a popular quote; "any which way possible, freedom must come.

Meanwhile, the movement has served notice that a second demonstration is scheduled to take place in Takoradi on September 21, 2021. A flyer circulating online also shows that a foreign version of the demonstration would take place on September 18, 2021.

Demonstrations are expected to take place in every region of the country before the year ends.
