In the Ashanti Region's Effiduase Asokore Zongo, several groups thought to be loyalists of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) (NPP).
A press conference in the constituency earlier today, Tuesday October 27, 2020, revealed the defection of nearly 500 former NDC stalwarts.
The group stated that the Akufo-Addo government's good policies, particularly the flagship Free Senior High School policy and other developmental projects in their constituency, which were lobbied by their Member of Parliament, Dr. Ayew Afriyie, drove them to defect to the NPP.
The group also promised to ensure that President Nana Addo wins big in their district and that their MP is re-elected with a landslide victory.
