The Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Savanna Region has been appointed by President Akufo Addo to the governing board of the Minerals Commission. Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana's appointment comes on the back of recent appointment of Samuel Yeyu Tika, another son of the Savanna Region and former Deputy Minister to the position of deputy CEO at the Minerals Commission.
By his appointment, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, known Popularly as Professor Kalamonia, will get to sit on the Board of the Mineral resources regulatory body along with eight other persons including the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairperson of the governing board. The role of the board is to provide advisory and supervisory role to the Commission to deliver effectively on its core functions which includes formulating policies on exploration and exploitation of mineral resources with reference to national priorities having due diligence to the economy.
Alhaji Sulemana, a hugely popular figure and successful businessman, after becoming the chairperson of the party in the newly created savanna region worked tirelessly and was able to increase the number of parliamentary seats won by the NPP from one in 2016 to three out seven in the last general election. In a statement, the regional communications directorate of the party congratulated the chairman and said his new feat did not come as a surprise considering the enormous service he has rendered to the party and country.
