The Ministry of Finance of Ghana has released a press statement this Tuesday afternoon to clarify rumours of Ken Ofori-Atta's resignation issues. From Monday 4th October 2021, news started emerging, especially on social media, that the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta has allegedly made his intentions clear to resign from his position due to his health and medical issues. This made a lot people raise concerns about the whole situation as images of the minister being "abnormally fat" within the last few days had already circulated. This made it easy for people to believe the resignation rumours.
But contrary to the spread rumors, the Ministry of Finance has made it clear that the minister has not resigned or has not made any decisions about it. "Mr Ken Ofori-Atta is at post and focused on his mandate, given to him by his excellency the president, to serve the people of Ghana in his capacity as finance minister", the statement said. The public have been advised to disregard the rumours.
