"Why Now?" - Netizen Quizzes As Electoral Commission Finally Breaks Silence On Supreme Ruling

The Supreme Court of Ghana gave their ruling that, the Petitioner did not provide enough concrete evidence to prove that, the 2020 Presidential elections was indeed won by Former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). So the 7 Supreme Court Justices unanimously ruled that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was the legitimate winner of the 2020 Presidential elections.

The Electoral Commission Chair, Mrs. Jean Mensah was not allowed to mount the witness box upon several attempt by lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata pleading to the Justices, the need for her to do so because she is the only returning officer for the Presidential elections. After the ruling, Mrs. Jean Mensah did not comment on the outcome of the Election Petition, neither did her subordinate Commissioners.

But the Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Bossman Asare was recently interviewed by Asaase FM where he said that, the ruling of the Supreme Court exculpate their job. He stressed that, "We were relieved right after the election because we know we did the right thing. The Supreme Court gave us an international vindication, so for us life is just normal; we have a lot of things, review of the election et cetera that we must engage in".

Dr. Bossman Asare encouraged Ghanaians that they should move on from the election petition and assured Ghanaians that, they are working hard to make their structure of work even better. This comment has propelled some Ghanaians to react that, why now? They should done this during the hearing in court but because they were not 'bold' enough, they have waited for the hearing to be over and also waited for almost one month after ruling before commenting.

A Facebook user known as Nicholas Baiden reacted that, "Very Funny. Why are they responding to it now". The NDC has already move in this petition.
