The Year of Roads was first announced in Parliament by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Attah in 2019 final budget statement. President Nana Akufo-Addo tagged this year as a Year of Roads and has embarked on cutting sod for rehabilitation of existing dilapidated roads and construction of new roads.
However it has been alleged that, the construction of these roads are done mostly in strongholds of New Patriotic Party (NPP). These regions are Ashanti and Eastern Region.
On August 17, 2020, Dr Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings wrote on her Twitter handle that, she wrote several letters and lobby in order for NPP government to rehabilitate and construct some bad roads in her constituency. She wrote in her Twitter handle that,
“After 3 long years of lobbying, writing letters and questions on the floor of Parliament, finally, results!!! Odanta road and Eseefoo roads in asylum which were started today are two of the ten roads earmarked for rehabilitation in Klottey – Korle.”
She added pictures of the ongoing construction of roads in her constituency.
