The Former President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has condemn the un-imagined incident which took place in Parliament House on Thursday night, 7th January 2021 and Friday dawn, 8th January 2021.
Mr. John Dramani Mahama shifted all the unforeseen event which took place on that night and blamed this current government under His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament under this 8th Parliament for it.
He said, "Everything that is wrong with our democracy under this President played out in Parliament that". As we can all recall, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah of NPP and MP for Tema West Constituency snatched ballot papers and run with it in an attempt to disrupt the counting process.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) also 'played' on the ground and insisted that ballot cast should be made known to their Chief Whip which according to Parliament Standing Order in election of Speaker is suppose to be secret ballot.
Ex President John Dramani Mahama think that the NPP MPs were trying to disenfranchise the Assin North MP, Hon. James Quayson by getting him out of the chamber. For the entry of the military into the chamber, the Former President said is an abomination and it makes us look like a "Banana Republic".
But he was thankful to the NDC MPs that they stood on their grounds and condemn any actions contrary to the law of Parliament.
