Video Of Some Ghanaians Calling Former President Mahama A Thief Causes Stir

An activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Yayra Koku, has shared a video of some Ghanaians demonstrating in London in 2016. In the video, the demonstrators were calling President John Dramani Mahama a thief.

Yayra Koku in a post backed by a video wrote;

"Dear Ransford Gyampo, I hope you are doing very well. Attached is a video of well-organised NPP members in London hooting and calling President Mahama “a Thief” in 2016. Please, were you in Nicaragua when this happened, or because it was President Mahama, you didn't find it necessary to condemn the NPP and call for respect for the President?

Today, you are telling us to respect the Presidency because it happened to Akufo-Addo. Hypocrisy will kill some of you."

The comments of Yayra Koku comes as a background to the booing of President Akufo-Addo last Saturday. During the 2022 Global Citizen Festival at Accra, some Ghanaians were shouting "away, away, away" when Akufo-Addo was delivering his keynote at the event.

Following that, Professor Ransford Gyampo has called Ghanaians to respect the presidency no matter the person that occupies it. He said that although Ghanaians aren't happy with the current NPP administration, they shouldn't drag their culture of respect to the gutters.

"Nice to have such records to show to today's pious advocates of good behaviour. Thanks for sharing. Over to Gyampo." A user wrote.

"No one hooted at Akuffo addo of being a thief but Mahama was called a thief. His excellency JDM, we apologise on behalf of this guys. They did not know what they were doing then." Another user wrote.
