President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated with some optimism that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections, under the new presidential candidate they will elect soon. According to the President, the NPP has been strengthened at its core and across every unit and constituency to retain political party beyond his tenure.
Speaking at the 29th anniversary ceremony of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that there is every reason for the party and its functionaries to be responsible in securing the political interest of the party for continued and sustained political administration in Ghana. He emphasized the chart that had been set by his government must be protected so Ghana shall witness the transformation the NPP had promised.
He argued that the party and Ghana cannot risk retrogressing should there be a change of government, adding that the path of prosperity must be guarded against any threat of diversion as his tenure comes to an end.
“I am very confident of it, that on the 7th of December 2024, the new NPP presidential candidate is going to win the election of 2024. So, our objective, our responsibility is to do whatever it is necessary to make sure that victory is forthcoming.
“We have to continue our way forward in Ghana. We cannot afford the backsliding that takes place every now and then. It hasn’t benefited our nation and it will not benefit our nation. The foundations that we have laid today, for the prosperity of our nation are going to be shaken, if again, through our own thought, we allow the path for progress to be diverted,” he reiterated.
He reckoned that the celebration of the 29th anniversary is refreshing given that is comes just after the observation of the Founders’ Day [yesterday]. He intimated that there is much to be grateful for as a country given the successes that had been chalked throughout the journey of political liberation.
