Interesting facts about Ghana I bet you did not know.

Ghana is 63 years old after independence with great history and culture being passed on from generation to generation. Yet there are some facts you are yet to know especially if you were born in the late 90s and 2000s.


After independence, the name of the country was changed from gold Coast to Ghana. Did you know that meaning of Ghana is Warrior King. I bet you didn't know.


Another interesting history is, Cowry shell was used as money hence we derived the name cedi from there.


A Ghanaian Ferdie Auto holds the world record for fastest backward sprinter. He did it in 13.6 seconds. You read right, 13.6 seconds.


The oldest castle in Sub-Saharan Africa is found in Ghana. It's the Elmina Castle which was built by the Portuguese in 1482. Great architecture for the time.


Agree or not, Ghana is ranked the most peaceful country in Africa by the global peace index.
