
Commissioner of Police (COP) George Akuffo Dampare has been penciled as the next Inspector General of Police.
He takes over from Jame Oppong-Boanuh as the new leader of the police service from August 1, 2021.
According to Asaase Radio, the president is expected to announce his appointment in the coming days
COP Dampare is currently the Director of General in Charge of Administrative in the Police Service.
He is also the a member of the Police Management Board.
He is reportedly the most senior most Police officer in the Service after the retired Oppong-Boanuh.
He joined the police service as a Constable in 1990 when he was only 20 years.
By age 404, he had risen through the ranks to become a Commissioner of Police.
Prior to his appointment Dampare has held several leadership positions in the police service.
He once served as the Municipal Commander for Cape-Coast, Chief Internal Auditor of the police service, Regional Commander for the Police Marine Department, Commandant of the Police Command and Staff College and Accra Regional Police Commander.
