Check out Prof. Jane Naana’s response when Berla Mundi asked her if the BECE should be cancelled.

Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman completed her tour of the Savannah region last week. She and her flagbearer are actively campaigning on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress to wrestle back power from the ruling New Patriotic Party. The country will in 28 days from now go to the polls to elect a leader.

Today Monday November 9, 2020 Prof Opoku Agyemang was the guest of Berla Mundi on Election 360. One interesting question that Berla asked her was whether she feels the Basic Education Certificate Examinations was not important and should be cancelled. According to Berla there has been arguments that that exams does not necessarily tell the intelligence of children.

According the Prof Naana she doesn’t understand the basics for those calls. She maintained that the exams are important because it prepares the kids for the next level. She noted that if there is a reason to cancel it then there should be a reason based on the needs of the country.

“Maybe we need to take another look of that. If there is a cause for there I have no problem. If it calls for everybody getting to PhD before exams, why not?” she concluded.

Do you also feel the basic examinations deter kids and sometimes breaks their morale at a young age? Should they be abolished or there should be another mode of exams? Share your thoughts!
