You Are My Junior In Parliament And So Stop ‘Heckling’ Me – Deputy Majority Leader Tells NDC MP

It was a feisty give and take from Deputy Majority Leader, Afenyo Markin and MP for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Andrew Chiwitey. This was after the Business Committee chairman had presented the Business Statement for next week. Apparently, the MP did not see a question he had filed and so asked Afenyo Markin why his question was missing for this week and next week.

According to Hon. Dari Chiwitey, his question was advertised yesterday to be presented and yet the Education Minister wasn’t in the House today to answer his question. He noted that at least he should have been given a notice that the Minister will not be around to answer him. He also challenged Afenyo Markin on why some questions ae filed on the same day and yet his question has been ignored. The MP’s question had to do with why there is a shortage of teachers in his constituency.

“Andrew Dari Chiwitey, MP for Sawla Tuna Kalba says he filed a question and it is not on the Order Paper and so the Business Committee has erred” Afenyo Markin said. However, before he could finish, he was interrupted by Hon. Chiwitey causing him to fume at the MP who asked the question.

“Stop the heckling. You are my junior and this is not the way we do things in the chamber. I am his senior and he should know better. In a situation like this he should engage his leadership or come to me so I teach him” Afenyo Markin said
