The start of today’s sitting saw just a few MPs in attendance. A prayer was said by Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, the Speaker before proceeding with the programme of the day.

I received 5 communications from him on absence from Ghana. The first was dated 1st April 2021 where he had to travel to Niger and had to comply with the constitutional provision and communicated to the House through me. Again on the 14th April, he did a similar communication when he travelled to Congo. On 10th May he had to travel to Uganda. On the 23rd of April he also travelled to Sierra Leone.

Honorable members, this is to inform you and through you to the people of Ghana that he has complied with all the constitutional requirements before travelling. I also received a communication on the nomination of a minister of state and deputy ministers” Alban Bagbin said at the opening of proceedings.

Parliament went on recess on March 30, 2021. Parliament is expected to be presented with a number of bills in the coming days.
