King Mswati III the King of Swaziland is a King much more concerned with the generation of his country. He once issued a decree that, men in his country are to mandatorily marry at least five wives or spend their lives in jail.
His statement assured the men of Swaziland that, the government was prepared to bear the cost of the marriage ceremonies and even on top, buy them houses.
Apparently, he seems to be the first of its kind in the world, to have levelled a compulsory marriage decision on his men, but there may be a great rationale behind this move.
“Here’s the deal, marry at least five wives and you’re assured that the government will pay for the marriage ceremonies and buy houses for them. Any man who opposes this decision will face a life sentence”.
The move was to ensure that, every woman gets engaged to a husband. In Swaziland, there are more women than men and according to the statement, it is a serious problem for their country to be full of virgins and scarcity of men.
This happens to be the reason why the monarch insisted that, every man should get himself at least 5 wives or go to jail.
It is again believed that, the Monarch himself has about 15 wives and about 25 children. His Father had about 70 wives with about 150 children.
