“Sammy is right to call them out on it” - Oliver Mawuse Barker Vormawor

The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has questioned the loyalty and allegiance of Members of Parliament on the ticket of NDC, regarding the approval of President Akufo Addo’s appointees.

According to him, the leadership of the NDC in parliament have dragged the party’s name into mud via their approval of the ministers.

He calls for structural reform of the party’s leadership in order to build cohesive and aggressive political party.

However, Chief Technical Advisor of the University of Ghana School of Law’s Democratic Vigilance Project, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, has thrown his support for the sentimental display of Sammy Gyamfi.

He stated in his Facebook post, dated on March 5, 2021 that the NDC MPs have subjected the party to public ridicule and troll after approving the President’s nominees.

He is not surprised that some NDC executives are challenging Sammy Gyamfi for saying the truth.

He believes that the Minority Group in Parliament cannot defend the vulnerable from tyranny.

He wrote that

“The NDC establishment is fighting back against Sammy Gyamfi.

Not surprising. Establishment will always establishment.

Nothing he said in his letter is far from the truth. The NDC MPs made a mockery of themselves and of their party. They have ruled themselves out as committed to carrying Parliament on as the last defense against tyranny.

Sammy is right to call them out on it.”
