Residents of Kperisi in the Kperisi Electoral Area of the Wa Municipality have expressed content about the initiative of the Wa Municipal Assembly to connect the community to the national grid.
They said they have endured the darkness for too long and need to also be connected to the grid. The people were speaking in an interview at the community when the Wa Municipal Executive, MCE, Issahaku Tahiru Moomin visited the community to hand over 70 electricity poles to the Volta River Authority to commence the electricity project at the community.
The Assembly Member for the Kpersi Electoral Area, James Kuusana Donkor noted that the electricity is a significant determiner of the development of every community. He said though the lights delayed in coming to the community, he is hopeful that it will be beneficial to the community.
Mr Donkor commended the Wa Municipal Assembly and the Executive Director for Hajia Humu Foundation, Hajia Humu Awudu for responding to the need of the community.
Several communities in the Upper West Region, including the Wa Municipality have been appealing to the authority to connect their communities to the national grid to help improve their living conditions.
