Kennedy Agyapong, a lawmaker from Assin Central, has spoken out about his desire to run for president on the platform of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating he is the finest choice as the party's flagbearer.
With his integrity, honesty, and love of humanity as well as his desire to improve the country, he believes he is the best candidate for the party's next general elections.
Any attempt by the NPP to field Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President, or Alan Kyerematen, Trade and Industry Minister, will spell disaster for the party, according to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. According to him, if the NPP wants to stay in power and end the eight-year election cycle curse, it needs someone like him on board.
Bawumia or Alan will not be helpful for the party if they [NPP] choose them." While speaking to Citi News at the NPP national delegates meeting at the Accra Sports Stadium, he said, "I feel I am the one who can break the eight.
The outspoken lawmaker is certain that because of his characteristics and personal attributes, voters are ready to gather behind him.
Ghanian citizens perceive me as an alternative to the genuine politicians who are always thinking about the next election and cannot speak the truth." Ghanaians regard me as a businessman and philanthropist who tells the truth and cares about the everyday people through my philanthropy. They've tried everything else, so now they're going to try being a businessman. "I'm up to the task."
Agyapong slammed his political colleagues for placing their own interests ahead of the greater good of the country while making the point that the NPP would face a rough time in the 2024 elections.
There is a high risk of a third term for a sitting government regardless of how well it performs, and so if you are going with the same face, it will be difficult." A new face who cares about people and country development is needed instead of a politician who is always looking ahead to the next term and therefore unable to make sound decisions. As a result, they'll cast their ballots for me."
When President Akufo-Addo requested a bailout from the International Monetary Fund, outspoken Kennedy Agyapong made fun of him (IMF).
He made the point that only states that are in crisis turn to the Bretton Woods establishment for help.
At that time, I stated any government that goes to the International Monetary Fund is a failure." Do you want me to backtrack if my administration is going to the IMF? I won't be taken seriously by others. Our government has failed, and I'm sticking to my guns."
