Today is the last day of the week for Parliamentary sitting. As always, the leader of the House presents the Order of Business for the following week. Law maker for Effutu and Deputy Majority Leader, Afenyo Markin presented the Order of Business for last week. After he finished Muntaka Mubarak, the Minority Chief Whip queried when President Akufo-Addo will come before the House and present the State of the Nation address for 2022.
It can be recalled that SONA 2022 was initially scheduled for February 24 and then postponed to March 3. Later it was postponed indefinitely. According to Muntaka the leader of the house should indicate clearly when the President will come and address the house.
According to Afenyo Markin, it is not the president who is delaying to come to the house. He noted that President Akufo-Addo is willing and ready to come. He however explained that the leadership of the house are yet to schedule and plan the coming of the president. He added that preparations are still ongoing and after that the information will be relayed to Alban Bagbin to finalize it before the President speaks to the house.
This was however refuted by Muntaka who insisted that the Minority have no hand in the delay of the president coming to the house. This is interesting because many will then ask what led to the arrival of the initial dates that the president was scheduled to speak to the house. interesting times ahead as Ghanaians wait on what the President will say in his next address to the nation.
