Breaking News: Akufo Addo has left Ghana, Bawumia to take over until he returns

Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is currently holding the position as the President of Ghana. He is going to rule for a while. What has happened to President Akuffo Addo and why is Bawumia the President?. Read full details here.


According to the Article 60(8) 1992 Constitution, Bawumia is taking over to be the President from now to Sunday6th February 2022. He will be working as the successor of President Akuffo Addo until Sunday.

This is happening because President Akuffo Addo has fly to Ethiopia to pay courtesy to the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), being held in Ethiopia capital Addis Ababa.


President Akuffo will lead the delegation from 5th and 6th February. Their going to work on the theme; 'Building resilience in nutrition on the African Continent: Accelerate the human capital, social and economic development.


While in Addis Ababa, President Akufo-Addo will present separate reports on AU Financial Institutions and on Gender and Development, in his capacity as AU Champion on Financial Institutions and AU Champion on Gender and Development, respectively.


He was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs; Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, MP; the Minister for National Security; Albert Kan Dapaah; and officials of the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry.
