With that been said, let’s get right into this article.

The fight against the ongoing illegal mining activities has done more harm than good to the country’s mineral resources and water bodies as citizens find it hard to get clean water for domestic usage due to the unexpected and continuous practice of galamsey in the country.

However, the various measures put in place against the practice of galamsey by Ghanaian citizens and Chinese have tend out to be futile by both the NPP and NDC government as there’s been numerous cases which had been reported to the respective media houses concerning illegal mining activities at certain towns in Ghana.

With respect to this, a popularly known NDC big wig, Dr Mark Arhin whilst speaking in a recent interview expressed his opinions on the incumbent government’s fight against galamsey in the country.

Whilst speaking on Neat 100.9 fm during the “Me Man Nti” political talk show, Dr Arhin emphatically made it clear that, the Akuffo Addo government can’t stop the practice of galamsey and that every policy been implemented by the government might be a failure.

“Government can’t stop galamsey totally”, Dr Arhin emphatically stated.

In addition, Dr Arhin made it clear that, the practice of galamsey in Ghana by either its citizens or Chinese has become a matter of national security and that stopping Galamsey might not be possible and so therefore, government will fail in the process.

Do you think government can’t stop galamsey considering previous and recent cases as claimed by Dr Mark Arhin of the NDC?

What do you suggest the government should implement to help stop the practice of galamsey in Ghana as a citizen?
